This vegan-friendly Marlborough Rosé shows alluring red fruit aromas of strawberries and raspberries, with hints of ginger and blossom in the background. The palate is intriguing, berry fruit flavours make way for subtle notes of ginger. The wine is balanced by juicy crispness, on a dry finish.

Spicy at first with leather notes. It develops blackcurrant and toasted aromas. Full bodied, smooth tannins, a crisp acidity.

A small family winery led by winemaker Simon Waghorn, acknowledged as one of New Zealand's best sauvignon blanc producers.

The Farm is Simon Waghorn's, winemaker at Astrolabe, own vineyard. Situated in Grovetown in the lower Wairau Valley, the vines at The Farm are some of their oldest. They dry farm, practise organics and are moving towards organic certification. The old vines in the Riesling block are a mix of three different clones. Nowadays, Riesling is not so widely planted in Marlborough, but it is perhaps one of the varieties best suited to Marlborough's cool climate. A mixture of hand-picked and machine-harvested grapes were fermented with light solids to produce an aromatic, dry wine with attractive citrus and floral flavours. Only the free-run juice was used to preserve fruit clarity and a tight acid structure. Simon believes that Riesling presents one of the best cellaring wines of all, especially in the screwcap closure, and expects this wine to age gracefully for many years.

Brut Majeur perfectly represents the AYALA style. The Chardonnay, emblematic grape variety, present at 55% in this cuvée expresses all its purity and elegance. An extended ageing of three years in the cellars confers the final touch to this cuvée, where balance and precision coexist with finesse and elegance. An ultimate Champagne aperitif, Brut Majeur will also harmoniously accompany every moment of the meal: white fish, shellfish, poultry, or a cheese platter.
